    This advanced level course is designed for students with a strong foundation in wheel throwing and ready to integrate specialized techniques into their throwing repertoire. During the lessons, students will be challenged to throw large on the wheel with a focus on both straight and round closed forms. Moon jars, a popular form, will also be taught but students are encouraged to experiment with both traditional and contemporary forms. We offer a structured yet flexible approach so you can master pottery at your own pace.

    Learning Objectives:

    To push your limits in throwing larger works on the wheel while creating refined straight forms and round closed forms with advanced shaping techniques.

    Lesson Breakdown:

    10 Lessons X 2.5 hours each

    Lesson 1 to 3 – Practice throwing with large amounts of clay, Shaping, Trimming

    Lesson 4 – Glazing

    Lesson 5 to 9 – Learn round closed forms and straight closed forms, Trimming and refining.

    Lesson 10 – Final round of glazing & finishing touches

    This advanced level course is designed for students with a strong foundation in wheel throwing and ready to integrate specialized techniques into their throwing repertoire. During the lessons, students will be taught how to wheel throw the individual parts of teapots and lidded jars, followed by trimming and assembly. You will be guided through the steps of designing and crafting your very own unique teapot set and jars, combining both form and function in beautiful practical pieces. We offer a structured yet flexible approach so you can master pottery at your own pace.

    Learning Objectives:

    To learn how to throw off the hump to create the various parts of a teapot and lidded jars. With a focus on usability, you will learn how to balance scale, proportion and functionality to ensure each piece fulfills its role perfectly and assembles into a cohesive set.

    10 Lessons X 2.5 hours each

    Lesson 1 to 3 – Throwing Jar bodies and lids, Trimming & Assembly

    Lesson 4 – Glazing

    Lesson 5 to 9 – Throwing off the hump, throwing teapot body, lids, spouts and teacups, Trimming, Pulling handles, Assembly.
