Terra & Ember offers a suite of pottery classes to suit all types of learners at different junctions of their pottery journey. Be it an absolute beginner or an amateur to the craft, our pottery classes are tailored to ensure elementary techniques are taught in tandem with enough breathing room for own personal exploration.
Wheel Throwing Experience
- Participant should be atleat 12 years of age.
2 complimentary bisque-fired (unglazed) pots are included. - Aprons will be provided.
Please ensure your nails are cut short. - Enjoy learning in a comfortable, air-conditioned studio.

Here at Terra & Ember, we aim to provide you with a cohesive and wholesome wheel throwing experience. Suitable for beginners, this 2 hours session (approx.) will introduce you to the tactility of pottery clay and how to mold and transform it into a unique vessel.
You will first be taught about the basic foundational steps to throwing and subsequently, after you are more familiar with the clay, you will be given interesting tips and techniques on how to achieve your desired shape. Rest assured,
our experiential classes are small and hence, you will be closely guided by our dedicated and patient instructor. The last segment of the class would be a free and easy time for you to decorate your 2 pots with our selection of wood and ceramic stamps and create interesting patterns and textures.
You will also be given the choice (additional charges apply) to glaze your 2 pots with our wide range of colours, which will be done for you by our studio instructors after the class. Finished pots will only be ready for self-collection after 8 weeks from date of workshop. Delivery/shipping of finished pots are NOT included in the workshop price.
A Terra & Ember exclusive 2 hour workshop, you will be taught how to wheel-throw miniature clay vessels and experiment with different forms on a tiny pottery wheel! These vessels can be used to hold small objects or mini plants for a decorative table-top set in your office or home! No prior pottery experience is required to participate in this workshop as our dedicated instructor will be there guiding you on your mini pottery journey every step of the way. The first 10-15 minutes of the workshop will consist of a demonstration where our instructor will show the participants how to form a mini pot straight on the wheel using 3 basic steps.
These 3 steps will be the foundation for the participants to make their own unique mini pots. Using a quick dry technique, our instructor will demonstrate how to decorate and colour the pots using underglazes. After which, the participants are free to begin their crafting until the end of session to produce a cohesive decorative set of mini pots! Lastly, they will be given a special ceramic sealant to paint over their finished mini pots to increase the durability of their pots and keep it waterproof as well. With this addition of sealant, all mini pots will NOT require firing in the kiln and participants will be able to bring their mini pots home straight after class.
Please note that if participant were to insist on firing their pots, we can still perform it for them but it would be at their own risk. The studio will not take any ownership or responsibility for any glaze defects or flaws, broken or cracked pots after the firing process. No refunds will be given for any unsatisfactory results. Delivery/shipping of fired pots are also NOT included in the workshop price.
The Mini Potters
- Minimum age to participate is 12 years of age.
- Up to 2 complimentary underglaze-decorated mini pots (with option of sealant).
- Aprons will be provided to minimize clay splatters, however, do wear clothes that you are comfortable getting a bit dirty in.
Please ensure your nails are short as long nails may hinder your movements and cut into your clay pieces. - Workshop will be held in a comfortable, air-conditioned studio.
- *Do take note that if you are more than 5 minutes late for the class, you will miss the demonstration provided by the instructor at the start. The demonstration will not be repeated again for late-comers.

5 Lesson Flexi Course
- Participant should be atleat 12 years of age.
- 5 lessons (Last lesson will be a glazing class which is only held on the second and fourth Thursday evening of every month)
- 2.5 hours per lesson
- Unlimited usage of studio clay
- Access to all available studio equipment and tools
- Access to all in-house glaze and underglaze colours
- Complimentary 5 pots glaze-fired (up to 2kg or 5 pots in total, whichever comes first)
- Flexible lesson days & timings which require booking (see available dates and timings below)
- Valid for 6 weeks from payment date (No extensions allowed, students are to be solely responsible in keeping track of their course expiry date)

Terra & Ember’s 5 Lesson Pottery Course is curated for absolute beginners to the craft with a quick and easy introduction to the breadth of pottery wheel throwing and ceramic glazing. A strong foundation for wheel pottery will be taught with the focus primarily on techniques for basic functional forms. Participants will be able to make wares such as mugs, cups, bowls and small vases and adopt simple glazing and decorating techniques. With our flexi course framework, this course is perfect for those who prefer both flexibility and control over their course days and their pace of learning. Our class sizes are kept to a comfortable 6 pax per session so as to facilitate closer guidance and interaction between students and mentor.
After completing this course, students can consider joining our 10 Lesson Flexi Course Module 101 for further practice and reinforcement of their foundation or onto Module 102 for more intermediate level techniques and vessels. All students moving onto the 10 Lesson Flexi Course will also be able to enjoy a 10% discount.
